Shake, Rattle, and Roll: The Science of Motion

Wednesday 8:30 – 10:05 for ages 10 – 14

We’re excited to announce a new course starting in January!  In this hands-on experimental class middle grade students, we’ll explore all things that move.  Each week or two we’ll ask a question about motion, then we’ll use every day materials to build equipment to collect data and answer our questions.  We’ll start with questions about speed: from cars rolling to objects falling and go from there.  Depending on student interest, we may look at the motion of everything from the very big (planets orbiting the sun) to the very small (electrons moving to create electrical charge.)  Along the way we will certainly cover the scientific topics of Newton’s Laws (forces and motion), Energy, Work and Power.  Other topics will vary.  Class meets Wednesday mornings from 8:30 to 10:05 and runs from January 16 to June 5.  Cost $445.  Please contact us at 223-1010 for information about registration.  Class is for students ages 10 – 14.  Instructor:  Lexi Shear
